What we have been learning………

EYFS

This week in EYFS we have been on a journey into space in a hot air balloon which caused quite a hullabaloo! The children all climbed into the basket and saw a whole range of objects as they peered over the baskets edge! We then used all the correct punctuation, adjectives and conjunctions to write about the things we saw i.e. A blue whale splashing at the bottom of a waterfall and mum and dad waving at me! In Maths we have been using a variety of vocabulary to describe the positions of things i.e. the blue dog is behind the green box! In P.E we have continued to think about controlling a ball and took part in a ball skills circuit lesson to help consolidate the skills we have learnt. In R.E we have been looking at making the right choices and helped the adults who seemed to have forgotten!
A little plea………

We are looking for some more resources for our outdoor and would really like

toy cars all sizes

large dinosaurs

plastic / metal /wooden cooking utensils (we are ok thank you for pot and pans)

dolls house furniture and dolls

pine cones

Please bring any donations you have to either the office or EYFS team.

Thank you

Year 1

This week in Year 1 we have been continuing our learning on the local area by looking at some of the key places we may have visited or seen in Ashford. The children had so much information to share about their experiences. We then decided to create a leaflet for someone visiting Ashford so they could find out what there is to do here. In Maths we have continued to explore time and how we can talk about time in everyday life; for example we may sleep for 10 hours but play football for only 10 minutes. We had a great Art morning on Wednesday learning about the street artist Banksy. We had super discussions about his work and whether we agreed with how and where he creates his art or not. We then started to create our own Banksy painting, but don’t worry it was on paper rather than public buildings!  In PSHE this week we have been thinking about rubbish and in particular why we shouldn’t litter. The children were very helpful on a litter pick, they then created posters to teach other people the importance of putting rubbish in the bin and keeping our countryside safe and clean for humans and animals.

Year 2

What a fun Circus week we have had! We have been excitedly preparing to show you ‘The Greatest Year 2 Show’ on Monday evening at Kennington Academy! We have been rehearsing and practising our drama and singing skills. We have played team games, our favourite was the chocolate game! We have played circus activities pretending we are in different circus acts. We have made tickets and posters using typical circus phrases, making sure they are bright and colourful. We can’t wait to show you on Monday!

Absence – reminder

If your child is poorly and unable to come to school, please ensure that you inform the office via telephone on our attendance line or via Parentmail. This should be done before school on the first day of absence. Please be aware that we will call you if we haven’t heard from you or may even come to your home as we have a duty of care to ensure that all children who are absent from school are safe and accounted for.  If you have taken your child to the doctors it is useful to get an appointment card as proof of this.  Remember we can administer prescribed medication so if your child is feeling better but needs medicine, this can be brought to the office and administered as necessary.  Attendance is very important to ensure that your child does not miss out on valuable learning time – every minute counts!  If you are unsure whether your child can come to school, please call the office and somebody will be able to advise you.  Thank you for your support.

Kind donation

We would like to thank the Stainton-James family for the kind donation of a writing shed for year 2. This will be put up in the year 2 area soon and will be put to good use in September.

We are always on the lookout for outdoor storage, equipment, bikes, scooters etc. so if you have anything which you would like to donate or recycle, always check with us before getting rid of it!
