Packed Lunch

As you will be aware we aim to be a ‘Healthy School’ therefore we would like to remind parents that children should not have sweets or fizzy drinks in their lunch boxes.

What we’ve been up to………

This week in EYFS we have been thinking about the Incredibles a superhero family. It led us to think about what super powers our family may have and in Literacy we wrote these ideas down i.e. My Dad is a superhero because he can lift up an elephant! In Maths we have been exploring addition by working out how many superheroes were needed for each incident. We realised when they arrived that there were not enough so added some more and worked out how many altogether. We then recorded this as a ‘part part whole’. In PE we have been travelling across apparatus in different ways, learning to dismount carefully and as a star challenge putting a balance in to the remit!

We have not had much homework to share this term please don’t forget we love to see the starred activities that your children have achieved at home too!

EYFS Fundraising committee

Unfortunately we have had to cancel this committee meeting which was due to be held on 27th March as we have not had enough interest.

What an exciting week it has been in Year 1! We have planted cress and are recording what happens in a diary. We’re remembering to ensure they have light and water so that they can grow.

We have also begun to write our own non-fiction books linked to our topic, by explaining which plants we can and can’t eat and what plants need to grow.

In Maths we have been learning about measure. We have explored using a ruler to measure the length of different objects and record our answers in centimetres. We’ve enjoyed drawing our own lines and finding different objects to measure from around the room!

In Music we have been leaning about pulse and how music has something Siloam called a beat. We have been trying to clap to a beat and march with different speeds. We have also learnt about tempo and listened to different nursery rhymes to recognise fast and slow tempos.

In PSHE we have been learning about how to care for our environment with an emphasis on recycling and reusing different objects. We sorted objects into the correct recycling bins and discussed why they had to be recycled.

Year 2 have had a creative week! Mrs Hodge returned to school for an art workshop where we used different shaped and sized leaves to create prints using a press machine. We also created a still life watercolour painting in the style of Cezanne and a bold stencil pattern in the style of Orla Kiely. In Maths we have been learning how to tell the time. We have found this tricky but haven’t given up! In English we learnt about the meaning of Easter for Christians by reading the Easter story. We then sequenced the events and re told the story in our own words. We are really looking forward to Easter now and can’t wait for our school trip to Wingham Wildlife Park next week!
