This year Downs View has been lucky enough to be invited to take part in the Inspired Ways to Rio Project led by Kent Inspire.
Building on the excitement and legacy of London 2012, INSPIRED Ways to Rio is an exciting programme to encourage children and young people to increase their participation in physical activity and sport, the arts, and personal development. By combining these elements, INSPIRED Ways to Rio is a programme running in Kent academic year 2015/16 that will contribute to children’s wellbeing in an innovative, fun and supportive way, leading up to the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Through this project the children will have the opportunity to meet and attend workshops with former Olympic swimmer Chris Cooke, focusing on how to challenge themselves and get out of their comfort zones to achieve new goals and targets.
Wellbeing workshops led by the Kent Community Health NHS Trust will be held for the children, staff and parents focusing on the Six Ways to Wellbeing and how they can be used to raise wellbeing levels. Further information about the Six Ways to Wellbeing can be found by using the link below:
Our Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) curriculum will be focused around the Six Ways to Wellbeing to provide the children with a variety of strategies and activities to raise their wellbeing levels.
The grand finale of the project is a Rio carnival themed day in Term 6. The children will take part in a Rio INSPIRED Carnival preparation workshop to prepare them for a special event.
