Term 4 Highlights

Church Visit

In RE this term we have continued to learn about Christians and their beliefs. We went for a visit to our local church, St Mary's, to see what the inside of a Christian church is like and see some of the features including the font, alter and pulpit.

Lamb Visit

During Science week, EYFS had some sheep and lambs visit. We were lucky enough to be able to go and see them too. The lambs were less than a week old. We learnt how their wool is used for lots of different things, including the oils from the wool which are used to make soap. We loved stroking and feeding the lambs. It really inspired us in our English writing as we had been making our own non-fiction books about animal groups. Some of us chose to write about sheep when we described mammals.

Movie Day

In week 5 we were meant to go on a school trip to the theatre, sadly it was cancelled. Instead the teachers put together a fun day for us. We all went into the hall where we watched The Lion King and had popcorn to eat. We also got to have a picnic lunch in our classrooms.

Science - Animal Groups

In Science this term we have learnt about animal groups and how to classify animals. We learnt all about mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish. We also learnt that animals can be classified by whether they are a carnivore, herbivore or an omnivore. We found it really funny when we learnt that sometimes scientists will look at animal poo to discover what they have eaten. We then created carnivore, herbivore and omnivore poo using playdough, berries, lentils (for seeds), spaghetti (for bones), leaves and sticks. We displayed this at the end of Science Week for our grown ups to see.
